After 25 years in the heart of Sliema, the beloved Maltese restaurant Ta’ Kris has officially closed the doors of its original outlet. Yesterday (Sunday 3rd August 2025) marked the end of an era for the eatery that has become synonymous with home-style local cooking and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Located just off Sliema’s bustling shopping streets, Ta’ Kris had long been a favourite among locals and tourists alike. But while its Sliema chapter has come to a close, fans of the restaurant have reason to celebrate: Ta’ Kris is moving to a new location in nearby Gzira, where it will continue serving the same authentic cuisine at 154 Triq ix-Xatt.

Back in April, GuideMeMalta.com first reported the upcoming move. Now, the transition is officially underway – with the team ready to welcome familiar faces (and new ones) to the new waterfront spot.

In an emotional farewell shared on social media, Ta’ Kris thanked its loyal staff and customers for their unwavering support over the years, saying that ‘It’s been an incredible ride full of joy, challenges, growth, and lifelong memories.’

Best of luck to the Ta’ Kris team on their new adventure!
