Down under and missing Malta? This Maltese Festa is hitting Australia THIS weekend
It is estimated that there are as many Maltese people living around the world as there are presently in Malta. The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia host a huge number of Maltese families between them, with Maltese immigrants in the latter country working hard to preserve their Maltese heritage from dying out.
Consequentially, the incredibly popularity of the Latrobe Valley Maltese Festa, held for the first time in 2018 in Australia comes as no surprise. Drawing a crowd of over 8,000 people, the festival launched a massive celebration of Maltese food and culture and sought to bring the Mediterranean to Morwell in South-eastern Victoria.
Returning for another edition this Saturday 22nd February, the event will kick off at 10am and is expected to finish at 4pm. Held in the Kernot Hall area, the Latrobe Valley Maltese Festa promises plenty of Maltese food, drink and dance: “The crowds will be entertained throughout the day with live music both in and outside Kernot Hall,” the event description read.
And judging by the 2018 event’s after-video, it seems like an event no true Maltese will want to miss out!
Check out the festivities here.
Send this to anyone in Australia who could do with a taste of Malta!
