If you’re eagerly waiting for the upcoming public holiday, happening on the 8th of September, you’re in luck! Heritage Malta’s Fort St Angelo will be open at a reduced price so that you will get the opportunity to witness history close and personal.

Including all the marvellous attractions at Fort St Angelo, the chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin is one to look out for. Situated by the old medieval gate, this chapel holds a fascinating story. Originally named the chapel of St. Angelo, it underwent a meaningful transformation.

When the victorious end of the Great Siege coincided with the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Order of St. John took the opportunity to rededicate the chapel in honour of this momentous event.

If you’re looking for a cultural and historical activity this public holiday, delve into the ongoing restoration of the chapel and its rich heritage at a reduced entry fee.

The day will commence with a 10am mass at the chapel, followed by an 11am commemoration at the Victory of the Great Siege monument.
