Back in 1987, a massive Great White shark was caught by local fisherman Alfred Cutajar near Filfa, making it the biggest shark ever caught off Malta.

Victor Fenech recently posted a few photos that he shot himself from this memorable day. ‘These photos were taken by myself with a Hanimex camera’, Victor claims.

Speaking to GuidemeMalta, Victor recalls this specific day very clearly. ‘I remember a friend of mine, who is also a fisherman, called me because he knew I loved to take photographs. He informed me that they had just caught a shark in the limits of Filfa and they were heading back to Marsaxlokk’.

Victor explains that the shark was massive, and this was evident because it was found with two whole dolphin skeletons inside its stomach.

‘People were coming from everywhere across Malta because this was a one-of-a-kind sight to see. I made hundreds of copies of these photographs because everyone wanted to get their hands on them’.

Are you scared of sharks?
