Covid-approved: 10 things you can safely do this summer in Malta
Some ideas for you to consider.

Jillian Mallia

As we’re (slowly) making our way out of this covid dump, we’re looking forward to a fun-filled summer packed with activities around the island. While mass events aren’t allowed at the moment due to restrictions, you can still enjoy a summer in Malta to the fullest! Here are our top picks of things to do in Malta: covid-approved edition!

Beach hop!

Malta is known for its beaches and bays that boast incredible views of the Med and crystal waters. So why not make it your mission to visit every beach around the island? We challenge you!

Drinks with your mates

As the days get longer, somehow we all turn into folks who love staying out later. So, whether it’s a weekday or you’re kicking off the weekend, why not grab a drink with your mates at your favourite spot to wind down?

Brunch time!

Yes, puh-lease! Brunch spots around Mala & Gozo aren’t lacking and there are plenty to choose from. From seaside surroundings to posh locations, you’ll definitely enjoy one of the many brunch spots on the islands.

Underwater adventure

Malta’s waters are the perfect spot to get in the diving lessons you’ve been meaning to take up. Explore the underwater treasures the islands have to offer – and, believe me, there’s plenty to see!

Surf’s up!

Yes, even surfing is an option on the Maltese Islands! Surf them waves and don’t forget to tell a friend to take some cool shots, while you’re out there! Not a fan of surfing? There are plenty of water sports to choose from, including sunrise paddle boarding. We’d definitely recommend this!

Relaxing pool days

Another popular activity – if you can even call it that – is a relaxing day, lounging by a pool. Enjoy a day of sipping on your favourite cocktails and indulging in the tasty dishes served at the pool’s restaurant. Count us in!

Check out historical sites

Historical sites are a must-see this summer, especially for the history buffs! Malta’s got an abundance of historical secrets for you to discover. If you can brave the heat, you could visit the Neolithic temples scattered across the isle, or if you need a break from the sweltering weather, why not check out a museum in the capital?

Camping weekend

Adventurous folk will love this one. Why not organise a camping weekend with your significant other or best mates. It’s always an exciting thing to do and will serve as a little break from your on-the-go daily routine.

Boat day

Summer in Malta is almost synonymous with a boat day! You can easily rent a boat for the day and venture off around the islands for a fabulous day in the sun.

Gozo trip

Of course, a summer in Malta wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the sister isle! Gozo’s got a lot to offer in all departments, so much so that you might need to spend the night (or two!) there. Weekend getaway it is!
