Hospitalizations have been cut by about 84 per cent thanks to the COVID-19 jab, new real-world data has shown. As reported by Business Insider, such figures are the first to measure hospitalization rates from a real-world vaccination rollout.

Both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines - both available in Malta - have been found to substantially reduce hospitalization, even after a single jab. The data in question came from Scotland which analyzed 5.4 million people's health records between 8th December and 15th February. More than 1.1 million of these people received one of the jobs.

According to BI, scientists found that those who did take the jab were less likely to be hospitalised. And overall, it was found that hospitalization due to COVID-19 dropped by 84 per cent after taking the vaccine.

So far, Malta has administered 64,419 doses to various members of society. Currently, the vaccines available on the islands are the Pfizer/BioNTech, the Moderna, and the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines.
