Countdown to festa time! Valletta prepares for St Paul’s Shipwreck celebrations this Sunday evening
Mark your calendars!

Francesca Vella

Valletta is getting ready to come alive this Sunday evening as the city gears up for the annual St Paul’s Shipwreck celebrations. The annual festa, honouring the patron saint of Malta, promises all the staples of the much-loved village feasts - religious traditions and festive excitement with music, fireworks, and a modern laser show to boot!

The Facebook page 'Għaqda tal-Pawlini, A.D. 1970' have shared the schedule for Sunday night - and it's buzzing! If you're planning to be there for one of the first festi of 2025, here's what to expect:

7 PM Traditional March organised by the Pawlini Association, with the participation of the Societa Filarmonica Nazionale La Valette - A.D. 1874 and the Banda Sant'Elena of Birkirkara

9.45 PM A firework show featuring all kinds of pyrotechnics, culminating in the exciting 'kaxxa infernali' - if this is your first festa in Malta, you'll know it when you see it!

10.30 PM Ground fireworks accompanied by a pyrotechnic show synchronised with the music in Triq il‑Mediterranean under the Siege Bell War Memorial, just past the Mediterranean Conference Centre

11 PM Laser mapping show - find yourself a good viewing point and prepare to be dazzled!

Have you ever attended the celebrations of St Paul Shipwreck?
