Theatre Weekly has crowned the production ‘Sisyphean Quick Fix’, written by and starring local actress and writer Bettina Paris, and directed by Nicky Allpress, the 'Best Play' as part of their ‘Best of the Fest’ selection at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The play is a heartfelt comedy drama about family, migration, and the complex realities of addiction – one with several elements that locals with siblings or friends living abroad can undoubtedly relate to.

The one-hour-long emotional play had a successful local run in June this year at Theatre Next Door, before travelling to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival that is taking place this month.

This marks Bettina Paris's debut as a writer. She collaborated closely with the local agency 'Sedqa' to gain deeper insights into addictive behaviours and their impact on families. In addition to writing, she also stars in the two-woman play alongside another established local actress, Tina Rizzo.

The play has been receiving rave reviews all month, including that by Theatre Weekly itself, which dubbed the play a ‘must-see at this year’s Fringe’, claiming that the ‘fantastic debut for Paris’s writing ... leaves its audience reflecting on it for the remainder of the day’.

Well done to the entire team!
