It’s all happening on the 1st of December 2024 at the Sant’Antnin Family Park in Marsascala.
Bzzz, we’ve got some news for you! On Sunday, 1st December 2024, the the Environment & Resources Authority (ERA) is inviting families to join them for Nhar in Naħla, a fun-filled event dedicated to celebrating the Maltese Honeybee, which has recently been designated as Malta’s National Insect. The event will be held at the Sant'Antnin Family Park in Marsascala, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
This exciting day will be packed with a wide range of activities for all ages, making it the perfect outing for families to learn about the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. The day will feature kids' crafts and games, providing younger attendees with a creative way to engage with the theme of bees and sustainability. Interactive workshops will also be held to educate visitors about the bees’ important role in pollination and how we can create bee-friendly environments in our own backyards.
In addition to educational activities, the event will include bee-themed animations, live music performances, and entertainers in costume to keep the energy high and entertain the crowd. Local artists will perform live, bringing even more vibrancy to the occasion.
However, Nhar in Naħla is not simply about having fun; it is also about raising awareness. The event aims to educate the public on the significance of pollinators, such as the Maltese Honeybee, in sustaining biodiversity and supporting food production.
ERA will highlight ways that individuals can help protect these essential creatures, including planting pollinator-friendly plants, reducing pesticide use, and creating safe spaces like bee hotels for these tiny but vital insects.
In keeping with the eco-conscious nature of the event, attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups to help reduce waste. Free water will be available on site, ensuring that everyone stays refreshed throughout the day.
