The 14th edition of the highly anticipated Chocolate Festival in Hamrun is set to return this Saturday October 19th, drawing thousands of visitors once again to St. Joseph High Street and the surrounding areas.
This popular festival is a vibrant celebration of all things chocolate, highlighting its cultural significance within the local community. Historical records show that cacao seeds were introduced to Malta during the rule of the Knights of St. John, evidence of the island’s long-standing connection with this beloved ingredient.
Last year’s event captivated attendees with Tiziano Cassar’s impressive chocolate sculpture of Maximus Decimus Meridius, the iconic 'Gladiator' character portrayed by Russell Crowe. This year, Hamrun’s mayor, Christian Sammut, has promised more exciting sculptures, which are sure to be some of the evening’s highlights.
Each year, the Hamrun Local Council invites local band clubs and voluntary organisations to take part, ensuring an entertaining and educational experience for all. In the meantime, children can indulge in creative chocolate fun thanks to a special children’s corner.
Chocoholics will be delighted by the wide variety of chocolates from around the globe, including selections from Brazil, the UK, and the world-renowned Belgian chocolate, making the event a true paradise for chocolate lovers.
Will you be getting your chocolate fill this year?
