‘Beyond What Drifts Us Apart’: An exhibition that delves into cultural exploration at Dwejra Tower in Gozo
Culture lovers rejoice! From the 20th to the 28th of July, Dwejra Tower in Gozo will become a vibrant hub of artistic exploration with the launch of exhibition "Beyond What Drifts Us Apart."
Organised by Unfinished Art Space in collaboration with Mahalla Festival, and supported by the European Union's Creative Europe program and Arts Council Malta, this interdisciplinary project invites the public to engage with a compelling blend of art, history, and ecological discourse.
Curated by Elyse Tonna, co-curator of Malta's Venice Biennale national participation, the exhibition unfolds as a multi-year endeavour to uncover nuanced narratives surrounding coastal towers' environments and their ecological impacts. Situated amidst the stunning backdrop of Dwejra's natural beauty and historical resonance, the project features works by six diverse artists: Keit Bonnici and Florinda Camilleri from Malta, Maia Martinha from Portugal, Jamie Barbara and Isaac Warrington from Malta, and Justyna Olszewska from Poland.
Each artist brings a unique perspective, exploring themes ranging from ecological sustainability to post-fossil fuel narratives. Through various mediums and workshops, they aim to provoke dialogue and action towards environmental stewardship and cultural understanding.
The exhibition kicks off with a public opening on the 20th of July from 4-8pm, offering free admission to all. Visitors can immerse themselves in thought-provoking artworks and engage with artists committed to redefining boundaries and fostering cross-cultural exchanges.
