A spectacle in the skies! Malta International Fireworks Festival 2025 lights up Valletta & Nadur this April
Who says you need to wait till the summer 'festi' for fireworks? The Malta International Fireworks Festival will return in April - brace yourselves for an explosion of colour, music, and pyrotechnic artistry. With over 85 local and international fireworks teams participating, this year’s edition promises to be more breathtaking than ever!
Organised by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), this annual festival is a celebration of Malta’s deep-rooted pyrotechnic traditions, often the highlight of the beloved summer village feasts celebrated across both islands.
The Grand Harbour will set the stage for the first two nights, on Tuesday 22nd April and Friday 25th April, featuring a competition between top local and international fireworks teams.
On Saturday 26th April, the festival will take its magic to Nadur in Gozo, allowing those on the sister island to enjoy a night of sky-high excitement!
The festival's grand finale brings it back to the Grand Harbour on Wednesday 30th April, for a celebration marking the 21st anniversary of Malta’s EU membership. Expect displays of all hues, including a show-stopping performance by last year’s champions, Ghaqda tan-Nar Kercem, followed by a surprise finale that promises to be unforgettable.
2025 will bring a new addition to this traditional festival as, for the first time ever, local band clubs will be joining the festivities, allowing those present to enjoy another layer of Maltese culture and tradition while watching the stunning displays in the skies.
