A one-of-a-kind production! Musical and comedy show ‘Miscast – An Atypical Cabaret’ taking place at Palazzo Parisio
A healthy dose of laughter coming your way.
Miscast – An Atypical Cabaret, a show by local theatre collective ‘The Shrinking Violet’, is taking place this 10th, 11th and 12th November at the stunning Palazzo Parisio.

It is set to feature songs from musicals such as The Book of Mormon, Oliver, Les Misérables, A Chorus Line, Ordinary Days and Company. This will be a unique cabaret performance that promises plenty of surprises, as well as a healthy dose of laughter.
The show’s cast is a star-studded line-up of some of Malta’s top performers, ready to take on the roles they have always dreamt of – with hilarious results! Performing together for the first time since they formed The Shrinking Violets in 2017, the cast features leading theatre practitioners Maria Buckle, Jo Caruana, Chiara Hyzler, Cathy Lawlor and Denise Mulholland. Joining them are other household names including Mikhail Basmadjian, Thomas Camilleri, Joseph Zammit and Luca Zerafa.

The Shrinking Violets – known for critically acclaimed shows such as Jamboy, Ernest and the Pale Moon, Us/Them and most recently, In Other Words – also recently selected five young performers via an open call to make up the ‘Mini Collective’. Guided by the Violets, these budding artists will create their own cabaret show and perform it during the same weekend as Miscast – An Atypical Cabaret.
“Every performer is familiar with the phrase, ‘I’m sorry, it’s just not your casting’ – you’re too old, too young, too big, too small, too male, too female, your voice isn’t right or your personality just doesn’t fit,” says Cathy Lawlor, on behalf of The Shrinking Violets.

“We’ve all missed out on our dream roles with these comments. But Miscast – An Atypical Cabaret is our opportunity to turn those opinions on their heads”, she continued.
