A nation young at heart! 40% of Malta’s tourists last June were between 25 to 44 years old
Malta’s a favourite among British, Italian and French holidaymakers

Francesca Vella

Malta’s long been known as a hot tourist spot, and it seems that its popularity as a destination just keeps climbing! The National Statistics Office has announced that the first half of 2024 saw an increase of 23.4% in inbound tourists when compared to the same period in 2023.

The other two islands in the Maltese archipelago, Gozo and Comino, have retained their popularity, both for day trips and overnight stays, as 53.6% of all tourists chose to visit them.

Statistics from June 2024 have shown that Malta is mostly popular with the British, Italian and French holidaymakers, all of which make up 46% of the total amount of tourists that visit the island.

It has also been made clear that the island has several activities to offer young adults, as the tourists ranging between the ages of 25 to 44 make up an entire 40% of the whole amount, with the 45-64 age bracket coming in second at 27%. The start of summer events that filled the island’s calendar last June undoubtedly contributed to these results!

Would you recommend Malta as a tourist destination?
