Darrin Zammit Lupi snapped some beautiful moments of faith in Valletta and Rabat.

Malta’s Holy Week is a deeply spiritual and visually striking time of year, and the talented Darrin Zammit Lupi has managed to capture its powerful essence in a truly breathtaking way.

One set shows an installation in the shape of a cross formed by burning torches that’s been set up in Valletta for Holy Week, foregrounded by some silhouettes admiring the little fires while standing in darkness.

He’s also captured some truly dramatic shots of actors taking part in the interactive street theatre Passion play ‘Il-Mixja’ (The Way) that took place in the gardens of Verdala Palace outside Rabat.

The images highlight not only the solemn beauty of these religious celebrations, but also the details that make them so unique to Malta – from the familiar outlines of Verdala Palace to the faces of the participating faithful, both young and old.

Have you spotted any photo-worthy traditions this week?
