A day of history, learning, and adventure! Enjoy a fun-filled Sunday at Villa Portelli this March
No plans for this Sunday? Heritage Malta has got your sorted! This Sunday, 23rd March, don’t miss out on the chance to make your day extra special at Villa Portelli, a stunning historical gem perched above Kalkara Creek.
From 10am to 3pm, the villa will open its doors for an exclusive peek into its ongoing restoration, alongside a variety of engaging activities suitable for all ages.
Unlike regular Sunday openings, this special event will offer something for everyone. At the villa’s upper gardens, local scouts will lead hands-on workshops focused on life-saving skills such as first aid, orienteering, knots, and basic pioneering. These activities are designed to be both informative and fun, with plenty of games to keep you entertained.
For those interested in technology, the villa’s newly established interpretation rooms will feature an exciting Virtual Reality experience, created by Heritage Malta’s Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit and Digitisation Unit. This immersive experience will allow visitors to explore the history of the villa and its surroundings like never before. Additionally, don’t miss the ‘Science Under the Microscope’ session, offering a fascinating look at the microscopic world.
Environmentally conscious guests and green thumbs will enjoy a dedicated setup in the lower garden organised in collaboration with Project Green, showcasing sustainability initiatives and environmental projects.
The day will also coincide with a Fun Walk organised by the Kalkara Local Council, which will end at Villa Portelli. Donations collected during the event will go towards the restoration of this historical treasure, helping to preserve it for future generations.
Whether you join the Fun Walk or visit directly, bring your friends and family for a day of learning, adventure, and discovery at Villa Portelli!
