Winter isn’t over yet! January to end with showers across Malta and a minimum real feel of 6°C
Stay cosy, Malta!

Francesca Vella

While Malta has been enjoying a spring-like vibe, with sunny days and mild temperatures while the rest of Europe freezes in wintry storms, the weather’s about to take a turn – winter isn’t done with us just yet!

Weather portals like It-Temp Madwarna and Maltese Islands Weather are forecasting a return of rainy days starting this week. Expect showers on Wednesday, Friday evening, Saturday, and possibly Sunday too, with Saturday likely to be the wettest, expected to bring 9-20 mm of rain.

Temperatures are also set to take a nosedive, dropping from 19°C on Tuesday to 14°C on Wednesday – a 5°C drop! Nights will feel even colder, with the minimum real feel temperature dipping to a frosty 6°C on Wednesday.

This cooler, wetter spell is thanks to a weak anticyclone moving away midweek, allowing unstable Atlantic weather systems to sweep in. Strong winds are also expected to pick up midweek and over the weekend, bringing rough seas. If you’ve got sea travel plans, prepare for potential delays or cancellations.

Time to pull those jackets back out – winter’s making a comeback!
