Wind alert! Stronger winds and rough seas expected across Malta and Gozo in the coming days
Hang onto your hats!

Francesca Vella

The new year has, for the most part, brought great weather to the Maltese Islands so far, with generally sunny days and warmer-than-average nights. It’s not time to celebrate the spring just yet though, as the winds are forecast to pick up over the coming days, starting today and peaking between Friday and Saturday at force 7!

This will inevitably lead to some rough seas, so if you’re planning any winter swims or sea travel in the next few days, make sure to keep updated on the forecast before going ahead with your plans!

This increase in wind will hopefully mean a decrease in humidity, which has been so high in the recent days that it’s been the cause of some slippery roads across the islands.

Despite the strong winds, the sun should persist for the next few days, but next week might just bring a return of the winter Malta experienced at the end of 2024, so enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Are you hoping for some more frosty weather?
