What to do in Malta when it's too hot to do anything
Summer in Malta can be hot... really hot! So hot that you don't feel like doing anything. But don't let the heat put you out! Here's what to do on a hot day in Malta.

Whether you love summer or cringe at the thought of it, the heat CAN feel like too much to bear sometimes. Still, sitting on the sofa staring at the TV while basking in the cool AC air isn't the most exciting prospect, so how do you get out there and have a good time while staying cool? Here's what to do in Malta on a hot day.

1. Head to the sea

The balmy shade of a parasol, the comfort of a sun lounger, the cool sea breeze and inviting crystal waters for intermittent cool-off dips make hot days a breeze.

2. Visit the aquarium

Cool down in a different kind of water scenario. It's cooling just to watch the fish swim around at the Malta National Aquarium, plus it's air-conditioned!

3. Find the shade of the trees

If you're intent on being outdoors, just find the cooling shade of trees. Whether it's a picnic at Buskett or a stroll in San Anton Gardens, the sun just doesn't beat down that hard through the foliage.

4. Go to a museum

If air-conditioning is the only thing that keeps you sane on a hot day, spend your time in one of several interesting museums in the country. In fact, from museum displays to prehistoric caves and underground catacombs, there are several cool attractions in Malta.

5. Get on a boat

Whether you take a boat cruise or charter a yacht, it's always cooler to be on the sea. Plus you can dip into the azure waters to cool down and have a splashing time.

6. Chill out at the cinema

A good movie, munchies and glorious air-conditioning await while you relax at the cinema. You might even need long sleeves to avoid getting too chilly!

7. Play indoor games

There are several games rooms and escape rooms around the island. Or you could go bowling or play squash. There are several ways to keep entertained out of the hot sun.

8. Go diving

Leave the hot air and disappear into the cool underwater world. Try dives are possible with all Maltese dive centres, and there's always snorkelling as another option!

What's your personal favourite go-to activity on an unbearably hot day in Malta?
