What an honour! Malta tops LGBTIQ+ equality ranking for 9th year running
This is the second time Malta has been recognised this week in terms of equality and inclusivity!

Lyndsey Grima

For the ninth consecutive year, Malta has clinched the top spot on the ILGA-Europe Rainbow Map Equality Index, reaffirming its status as a frontrunner in championing the civil and human rights of LGBTIQ+ communities across Europe.

This milestone achievement marks the second feather in Malta's cap this week for its strides in equality and inclusivity recognised by international bodies. This global acknowledgement underscores the government's proactive stance in enacting progressive reforms that ensure the fair treatment of LGBTIQ individuals, affording them the fundamental rights to live authentically and free from discrimination.

This significance of Malta's unparalleled feat is a reflection of the nation's collective ethos, which has evolved to embrace diversity and uphold equality, transcending past prejudices. She attributed this landmark achievement to positioning Malta as a beacon of hope and progress for nations grappling with similar challenges.

We hope that Malta continues to lead by example in fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for the LGBTIQ+ community and beyond.

Well done, Malta!
