President Metsola expressed gratitude for the meaningful gesture, describing the crib as a powerful symbol of hope and peace, particularly resonant during the Christmas season. She emphasised the importance of unity in addressing the world's ongoing challenges, stating, ‘It is only together that we can resolve the conflicts of today and meet the challenges of tomorrow.’

The Nativity Crib from Bethlehem is part of a series of festive initiatives organised by the European Parliament to celebrate the spirit of Christmas. Earlier this week, President Metsola visited an exhibition of Maltese cribs at the Parliament. She praised the exceptional craftsmanship and creativity showcased by Maltese and Gozitan artists, calling their work a testament to Malta’s rich cultural heritage.

Additionally, President Metsola inaugurated other festive displays, including a belén, the traditional Spanish Nativity scene, and a magnificent Austrian Christmas tree, both contributing to the Parliament's multicultural holiday celebrations.

This gesture from Bethlehem serves as a reminder of the enduring importance of unity, peace, and cultural exchange during the holiday season, reinforcing the European Parliament's commitment to these universal values.

What an honour!
