What an achievement! Maltese powerlifter brings home the bronze from European Championships in Estonia
He benched 150kg!

Shawn Farrugia has done his country incredibly proud after winning the bronze medal at the European Open Classic Powerlifting Championships being held in Estonia.

He competed in the 74kg category and in the Bench Press section he secured third place after lifting 137.5kg, 145kg and 150kg.

Shawn also lifted 200kg, 210kg and 217.5kg in the Squat section, managing fifth place. He managed fifth place once again in the deadlift after successfully completing three 225kg, 240kg and 245kg lifts.

Maria Farrugia also competed achieving 11th, 8th and 7th place in the squat, bench press and deadlift respectively.

Other Maltese athletes including Lorna Cachia, Stefani Spiteri, Kim Grech, Maja Vaha, Ian Pace, Joseph Abela and Wayne Gregoraci are set to compete in different categories as the competition continues this week.
