What a throwback! Here’s what Għadira looked like back in the 60s
In the background you can spot Mellieħa Parish Church already watching over it all.

As summer slowly winds down, let’s take a little trip back in time. This vintage snap from the 1960s shows Għadira Bay in all its old-school glory – and wow, how things have changed!

In the background, you can spot the majestic Mellieħa Parish Church, standing tall just as it does today. It’s one of the few landmarks that has remained completely untouched over the decades.

Back then, Għadira and Mellieħa were much quieter – stretches of greenery rolled down to the bay, with far fewer buildings in sight. Fast forward to today, and the area has transformed into the lively seaside destination we know: lined with restaurants, hotels, and residences. One thing that hasn’t changed: it remains a favourite for both locals and visitors!

Is Għadira one of your go-to beaches?
