The National Archives of Malta recently shared a nostalgic throwback photo from 1972, capturing a behind-the-scenes moment during the filming of ‘Pulp’ in Malta.

‘Pulp’ is a 1972 British comedy thriller film starring Michael Caine as Mickey King, a writer of cheap paperback detective novels. The film, originally titled ‘Memoirs of a Ghost Writer’ was almost entirely shot in Malta.

The image provides a nostalgic glimpse into the past, with distant views of Torri l-Aħmar in Mellieħa serving as the backdrop.

Among the figures in the photo is actor Michael Rooney, positioned second from the right, adding a touch of star power to the scene. Additionally, the father of Henry Cachia, a colleague of the archives, can be seen second from the left, standing alongside the other individuals.

Every detail in the photo, from the men and their attire to the props and even the hog, contributes to the authenticity of the film set.

This remarkable photo offers a glimpse into the filmmaking process of the time and also holds personal significance for those connected to the individuals captured in the frame.

These archival treasures are able to bridge the gap between past and present, preserving cherished memories and stories for generations to come.
