What a sight! French Galleon ship ‘Étoile du Roy’ seen docked at Birgu waterfront
Did you spot it?

In a series of photos captured by Maltese photographer Kian Bugeja, one can see the magnificent French Galleon ship ‘Étoile du Roy’ docked at the Birgu waterfront.

Although built in 1996, the ship is a three masted sixth rate frigate that was designed to have a similar look to that of a warship during the Age of Sail.

In fact, the ship was largely inspired by the 1711 British ship, HMS Blandford.

The ‘Étoile du Roy’ was first originally built to be used for the series, Hornblower that run on ITV from 1998 to 2003.

It was even used again during the filming of the recently released film ‘Napoleon’ which was also partially filmed in Malta.

The ship is also used for sailing events, corporate events or private charters.
