Well done! Two Maltese weightlifters shine at Trophy of the Blue Swords in Germany
Malta was represented by two top athletes, Rylee Borg and Tenishia Thornton.

This past weekend, Malta's weightlifting talent was on full display at the prestigious Trophy of the Blue Swords in Meissen, Germany. The event featured two of Malta's top athletes, Rylee Borg and Tenishia Thornton, who delivered impressive performances against some of the world's best competitors.

Rylee Borg was the first to compete, successfully lifting 109kg in the Snatch and 142kg in the Clean and Jerk, amassing a total of 320 points. Rylee's consistent performance set a positive tone for Malta's representation at the tournament.

Later in the day, Tenishia Thornton took the stage in the third and final group. This young athlete successfully executed all six of her attempts, finishing with an 85kg Snatch and a 107kg Clean and Jerk, totalling 361 points. Her flawless performance highlighted her readiness and determination.

This year marked Malta's debut at this elite tournament, renowned for attracting the world's top athletes. The women's event was won by Belgium's Nina Stercks, while Julio Mayoral of Venezuela claimed victory in the men's category.

The commendable results by two of Malta’s finest weightlifting athletes are proof to their hard work and dedication, crucial for their preparation for the upcoming World Junior Championships in September.

Their performances have not only elevated Malta's presence on the international stage but also inspired future athletes back home.
