Well done! Tenishia Thornton brings home the gold for Malta at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships

The young and talented Maltese athlete Tenishia Thornton is on fire after winning the gold for Malta at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in New Delhi, India.

She beat her closest competitor from India by an impressive 19kg.

Not only did Tenishia secure a gold in the Junior 59kg category but she is also bring home the silver medal from the seniors category.

The seniors category saw Tenishia competing against countries like England, Australia, Canada and more. Yet the talented athlete still managed to grab the silver with 186kg, after beating South Africa who remained in the third position.

This was an impressive and incredible feat for Tenishia who was also studying and passing her A-level examinations while rigorously training for this competition.

The achievements of Tenishia Thornton at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Delhi, India have not only brought glory to Team Malta but have also solidified her position as a rising star in the sport”, the Malta Weightlifting Association wrote.

With her remarkable talent and unwavering determination, she has set a benchmark for future competitions”, they continued.
