Malta clinched a vital win over Moldova in the UEFA Nations League, marking a successful debut for new head coach Davide Mazzotta.

After an evenly matched first half, Malta came out stronger in the second, applying relentless pressure on Moldova.

Despite their dominance, it seemed Malta might walk away empty-handed until a pivotal moment in the 86th minute. An energetic run from debutant Basil Tuma drew a foul inside the box, giving Malta a golden opportunity.

Teddy Teuma calmly converted the penalty, sealing the win for his team.

Teddy Teuma had a chance to extend Malta’s lead with a second penalty in stoppage time after a Moldovan handball, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.

With this win, Malta holds on to second place in the group, level on points with Moldova but trailing on goal difference. Both teams still have crucial fixtures ahead against Andorra.

Well done, team Malta!
