What an honour!

Rebecca Buttigieg, Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality, has just been named one of the 40 members of the European Young Leaders (EYL40) Class of 2025, in a recognition for all her work tackling inequality and promoting gender rights.

The notable work mentioned in her EYL40 profile includes launching the National Strategy against Domestic Violence, pushing for free menstrual products in schools, strengthening LGBTQ+ rights laws, and making it illegal to perform virginity testing.

For over 10 years, the EYL40 programme has brought together Europe’s brightest minds to drive change and build a more inclusive, sustainable future. Other honorees include a female refugee who became an AC Milan footballer and doctor, a Michelin-starred chef, a Pulitzer-winning journalist and an astronaut!

Well done, Rebecca!
