Gabriel’s performance not only clinched victory but also set a new Under 23 record, improving his previous best by 15 seconds.

The absence of Luke Micallef, winner of the first two races, has intensified competition in the men’s category. Gabriel’s triumph has added excitement to the league’s halfway stage, with three races remaining, including the 5k and 10k National Championships.

The Safi race also saw a stellar performance from 17-year-old Michael Debattista Segond, who finished fifth in 15:54, setting a new Under 18 national record.

In the women’s category, 17-year-old Mireya Bugeja delivered a remarkable debut season performance, finishing in 18:00 and setting Under 23 and Under 20 records. However, as Mireya is not participating in the league, Pembroke’s Lisa Bezzina took first place in 18:16, followed by teammates Rosalie Borg and Mona Lisa Camilleri.

In the club standings, Mellieha AC extended their lead in the men’s league, outpacing Evolve Endurance Club and Zurrieq. Pembroke further solidified their position in the women’s league, building a strong lead over Mellieha AC and Zurrieq.

The league resumes on the 19th of January 2025, with the fourth race set over a 10k route in Hal Far, promising more thrilling competition as the season progresses.
