Weather whiplash, anyone? Sudden hailstorm hits the south, while the rest of Malta enjoys spring-like heat
Make up your mind, weather!

Francesca Vella

Although the forecast for today read sunny skies, a sudden hailstorm recently struck the southern part of Malta, bringing heavy hailstones and a sharp drop in temperature in localities including Birzebbuga, Tarxien, Zejtun and Marsaxlokk. Meanwhile, the rest of the islands remained basking in unseasonably warm, spring-like weather, although some clouds lurked above.

The unexpected weather shift left many in the south scrambling for cover as the skies darkened and hail pelted down, managing to capture some photos of the sizable hailstones that fell.

This stark contrast is a reminder of Malta's unpredictable weather patterns, where a sunny day can turn into a storm before you know it! Commenters on the social media post are reporting that the storm is passing, with hailstones already melting as the heat returns.

Did you experience the rogue hailstorm earlier today?
