Weather warning! Heavy rain and gale set to hit Malta and Gozo starting tonight
Avoid low-lying areas at all costs!

Winter is well and truly back! Last night saw the season’s coldest temperature so far, dipping to a chilly 5.6°C after scattered showers swept across the island in the late afternoon.

While this morning brought a temporary break from the rain, the reprieve won’t last long. Weather portals have issued a 24-hour warning starting at midnight tonight and lasting through Friday, with heavy and continuous rain showers expected to make a comeback. Drivers are urged to avoid low-lying areas due to the risk of flooding.

It’s not just rain that will challenge the Maltese Islands tomorrow. Strong East-Southeast winds are forecast to reach Force 8 to 9, with even stronger gusts on Friday morning and early afternoon. The wind will give way to more rain later in the day, which could turn heavy and thundery, causing very rough seas and likely suspending most sea travel.

Maltese Islands Weather has also warned that if atmospheric pressure drops significantly, we may see a temporary rise in sea levels in Marsaskala, Marsaxlokk, Birżebbuġa, and harbour areas.

If you live in coastal or low-lying areas, be sure to take precautions and stay safe!

Are you looking forward to tomorrow's storm?
