Excitement buzzes through Malta as the Foundation for the Conservation of the Maltese Bee celebrates a significant milestone – the Maltese Bee will soon grace a two-euro commemorative coin, a tangible testament to the foundation's dedicated efforts.

The Central Bank of Malta has taken up the initiative to honour this vital pollinator, a move applauded by bee conservationists and bee lovers alike!

Expressing their elation on Facebook, the foundation members conveyed their happiness that the long-suggested idea of featuring the Maltese Bee on a commemorative coin is now becoming a reality.

The foundation's primary objective is the preservation of the Maltese Bee population, considering it crucial for its endemic nature and intrinsic value.

In line with this commitment, the foundation is actively campaigning to designate the Maltese Bee as the national insect of the country.

This commemorative coin acknowledges the importance of the Maltese Bee in the ecosystem and also serves as a powerful symbol of the ongoing efforts to protect and promote the unique biodiversity of Malta.
