WATCH: Maltese vlogger and adventurer conquers the Camino Maltés de Santiago de Compostela in one-day trek
Local vlogger and adventurer, Pierre Farrugia, recently undertook the challenging Pilgrim Maltese Route known as the Camino Maltés de Santiago de Compostela. This unique path stretches 38 kilometres, just a fraction of the entire 3600-kilometer route connecting Sicily, Sardinia, Barcelona, and Santiago de Compostela.
Pierre opted for an ambitious one-day trek, dedicating more than nine hours to the journey. Shown clearly in his YouTube video, the route showcases picturesque landscapes and historical landmarks, with the Church of Our Lady of Divine Providence standing out as a gem along the way.
Pierre advises that to navigate the Camino Maltés, one can follow markers featuring the Camino Maltés sign or symbols from the peace walk or use a Google Maps route.
As the adventurer reached his final destination at Fort Saint Angelo by 17:30, a sense of accomplishment and pride accompanied the conclusion of this remarkable pilgrimage.
Pierre highlights that participants can obtain a Camino Maltés Kredenzjali Tal-Pellegrin—a passport documenting the journey. Stamps can be collected along the way to serve as verification, eventually leading to an official Camino Certificate.
Malta is now intricately connected to the renowned Camino de Santiago, offering pilgrims from around the world an opportunity to embark on the Camino Maltés by both land and sea.
Whether pursued in one impressive day or savoured in sections, the Camino Maltés de Santiago de Compostela promises an enriching experience, blending spirituality with the exploration of Malta's diverse and scenic landscapes.
