Coming together for a good cause!

The President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, Prime Minister Robert Abela, Leader of the Opposition Bernard Grech and the Archbishop of Malta Charles Scicluna gave Malta a sweet surprise earlier today, when they appeared all together in a video promoting ‘L-Istrina’, the annual fundraising event in Malta, organised by the Malta Community Chest Fund, which supports individuals and families in need.

The event will be held, as it is every year, on Boxing Day, featuring the usual televised marathon that brings together celebrities, public figures, and the Maltese community to raise money for various charitable causes.

It has become a significant post-Christmas tradition in Malta, with donations collected through phone-ins, online contributions, and public donations during the event, with last year’s edition raising an incredible €5 million.

The video features the leaders surrounding a red telephone, with the expectant President waiting for it to ring, while the other leaders put her mind at rest that it will indeed ring when ‘L-Istrina’ comes around next week, reassured that the population’s generosity will once again become evident.

Will you be following ‘L-Istrina’ this year?
