It seems that Malta could have another vaccine coming its way as in the coming hours the European Medicines Agency (EMA) should be approving the Moderna vaccine, Health Minister Chris Fearne has announced in today’s ongoing press conference regarding the vaccine roll-out

This means that Malta will have another vaccine that can be distributed. Fearne reminded the population that it has 100,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine ordered once approved. This adds to the 670,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

He noted that the Moderna is slightly different. He noted that there needs to be a period of four weeks between the first and second jab, saying that half will be used to ensure that those who had the Moderna vaccine will have their second one readily available once the four-week period is up.

UPDATE, 2PM: The Moderna vaccine has been deemed safe and effective, President of the EU Commision Ursula von der Leyen tweeted. "Now we are working at full speed to approve it & make it available in the EU."
