WATCH: Huge funnel cloud forms over Gozo
Is this a sign of Malta first November storm?

Emma Galea

This November we have not quite experienced any huge storms yet in Malta or Gozo but a huge funnel otherwise known as tromba tal-arja in Malta has formed over Nadur in Gozo.

A video shared by the weather Facebook page, Aggornament ta’ Temp shows the impressive sight of the funnel as it passes over Gozo.

Funnel clouds typically originate from Cumulonimbus clouds as they are the host cloud from which the tuba we see in a funnel cloud originates from.

This can also possibly mean that heavy rain or thunder might follow as the summer like weather we have been experiencing turns finally into typical autumn weather.  In fact a little rain has already fallen in Xaghra.

Did you spot it?
