This year, the Chinese community celebrated their new year on the 10th of February.

Each coming year is dedicated to a specific animal within the Chinese zodiac, with this year being the year of the dragon.

As on the 10th February the carnival was being celebrated here in Malta, the Chinese community opted to celebrate the new year yesterday instead.

Many Chinese nationals as well as other people from other cultures took to the streets of Valletta in a variety of dresses from different Chinese dynasties.

The traditional Chinese dress is known as the Hanfu.
