The wet weather, although largely condensed over 10 days, was welcome after a very dry October
December's chilly winds may have made November feel like a distant memory, but it’s worth noting that last month was unusually warm. According to Maltese Islands Weather, November’s mean maximum temperature reached 21.9°C, exceeding the climatic average by 1°C. Despite this warmth, the only night to dip below 10°C was November 25th, when the temperature briefly dropped to 9.1°C due to the tail end of a cold air mass brushing the central Mediterranean. For most of the month, colder airflows from northern latitudes were notably absent.
Interestingly, November didn’t just break temperature norms—it also brought more rain than usual. A total of 131.3 mm of rainfall was recorded at the Gozo weather station, surpassing the monthly average by 37.4 mm. This wetter-than-average November provided a refreshing contrast to the dry conditions experienced in October. The rainfall was concentrated over 10 days, with the bulk falling between November 8th and 13th, driven by atmospheric instability locked over the central Mediterranean.
December has already seen quite the drop in temperatures, so may just provide quite a different verdict to the past month!
