Visit 6 great theme parks in Malta this summer

Retreat to another world, a world of imagination, a world that is fascinating to the young and old. There are various theme parks in Malta that offer a wonderful way to spend the day with the whole family, and these are my favourite picks.

1. Popeye Village

Explore the original Popeye movie set, meet Popeye and Olive Oyl, enjoy the animations, make a movie, take a boat trip around Anchor Bay, visit Santa's toy town and have a splash in the pools. Nestled at the bottom of the cliff at Anchor Bay in Mellieha, Popeye Village welcomes you to a variety of activities that easily fill up a whole day with fun for all ages.

2. Splash and Fun Park

Waterslides, pools, more slides and more water fun is what you can expect at the Splash and Fun Water Park. Young and old will squeal with delight as they enjoy the facilities and the vibrant atmosphere.

3. Mediterraneo Marine Park

Swim with dolphins, watch them perform, meet sea lions, see the clever parrots and birds, and become fascinated by the reptiles housed here. This park, with its animals, displays and shows, provides entertainment for all ages.

4. Luna Park at Manoel Island (25th May-19th August 2018)

A Ferris wheel, a house of horrors and all you could expect at a Luna Park is yours to experience at this pop-up theme park that resides at Manoel Island for a few months each summer. No matter your age, everyone becomes a kid again here.

5. Malta National Aquarium

Not quite a theme park, but the Malta National Aquarium definitely deserves a mention. Admire a wonderful display of marine animals laid out according to themes, get a souvenir and enjoy the rest of the day by the pool at Cafe del Mar nearby. A most amusing and educational way to spend the day out of the midday sun that allows you to nonetheless savour the flavour of the Mediterranean and discover the mysteries of sea life.

6. Playmobil FunPark

Not much to do for the adults here but definitely a treat for the little kiddies, who will love playing here for a few hours. Playmobil Malta is the second largest Playmobil factory in the world, and the fun park includes life-sized figures that immerse kids in the wonderful imaginary world of Playmobil.

So there you have it, that's certainly enough entertainment to tick the boxes of anyone's fancy! Are there other theme parks in Malta that you've visited and loved? Let us know which they are!
