Exciting news for those eager to immerse themselves in a completely different culture! From 30th November 2024 to 31st December 2025, Maltese citizens holding ordinary passports can travel to the People’s Republic of China without a visa for stays of up to 30 days.

This milestone in Malta-China relations allows visa-free travel for purposes such as business, tourism, family visits, cultural exchanges, or as a transit point. However, travellers who do not meet the visa exemption criteria will still need to obtain a visa before traveling to China.

In addition to Malta, China has extended this visa-free policy to nine other countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan, further enhancing global connectivity.
