This project prioritises sustainability and accessibility, including permeable surfaces to allow rainwater to filter through – often an issue in various areas across Malta – allowing for more effective water management. The new space will also be designed to ensure it is accessible to all, including wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Other features of the project include the restoration of a 120-metre traditional rubble wall and the refurbishment of an existing underground reservoir, supporting sustainable water usage. In order to makes these changes, such as the footpaths and permeable surfaces, 1,800 cubic metres of concrete and debris have been removed.

Do you know a Pembroke resident looking forward to this new space?
