The project explores the synergy between art and artificial intelligence

Today sees the opening of the exhibition ‘Tomorrow’s Blossoms’, which addresses a question asked often nowadays: ‘What do humans experience that makes them create art?’ The exhibition will run between the 9th and 21st July in the Planetarium Dome at Esplora in Kalkara.

This hybrid AI-art collaboration explores the relationship between two elements in our society that are often viewed at odds with one another, at a time when they are becoming intertwined like never before.

Through this research, human and natural behaviours are studied by combining internet data with analogue and digital paintings. The project aims to train a machine-learning algorithm to understand the essence of human creativity by using public data from sources like Flickr, Instagram, City Scapes, and Image Net.

This project is led by Selina Scerri, a multimedia artist, and Angelo Dalli, a computer scientist, who combine their expertise to guide the AI to better understand the human artistic process.
