Time flies! Almost halfway through the year with half of Malta’s public holidays still ahead
This year March was the month with the most national holidays, with a whopping total of 3!

Kicking off with next Saturday’s Imnarja, there are six public holidays left in 2024, including Santa Marija in the middle of summer, on the 15th of August.

This is often considered the biggest feast of the year in Malta. Not only does it celebrate the religious feast of the Assumption of Our Lady in seven villages all over Malta, but it also commemorates the arrival of a food convoy in Malta during World War II, saving the population from starvation.

Three of the remaining holidays this year will fall on a weekend, namely Victory Day on 8th September, Independence Day on 21st September and Immaculate Conception on 8th December.

However, 13th December will land on a Friday, providing many with a long weekend opportunity for Christmas shopping!

Which is your favourite national holiday?

24th June 2024
