What a throwback! We recently came across this vintage photograph of the Sliema Ferries from the 1900s and it transported us through time!

Vintage photo of Sliema Ferries

The snapshot captures a bygone era before the Sliema-Marsamxetto Ferries commenced their operations. The image reveals a quaint scene with Barklori, traditional water taxis, patiently awaiting customers for the journey to Valletta.

Alongside the water's edge, the iconic Victoria Hotel graced the promenade, adding a touch of historic elegance to the bustling harbour.

This snapshot not only freezes a moment in the past but also invites us to envision a Sliema steeped in history, where maritime transport was characterised by the charm of these timeless vessels.

Do you prefer the old Sliema or the new hustle-and-bustle Sliema?
