The rain isn’t done yet! More showers expected after yesterday’s deluge over Malta and Gozo
Keep hold of that umbrella!

After a stretch of mostly fine weather in the first two weeks of 2025, Malta and Gozo faced their first torrential downpour of the year yesterday. The heavy rainfall flooded low-lying areas, with some parts of Gozo recording over 25 mm of rain!

And the wet weather isn’t over yet. According to Maltese Islands Weather, more rain is on the horizon, with showers expected today (Wednesday, 15th January) through the weekend. While Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday will bring scattered, intermittent showers to some localities, Friday and Sunday promise more persistent rain, with thunderstorms expected on Sunday afternoon and evening. If you’re planning to travel on those days, be prepared for potentially challenging conditions.

Yesterday’s strong easterly winds are also set to make a comeback on Friday, with gusts reaching force 8 once again, likely to disrupt sea travel as they did yesterday. Fortunately, the winds should ease over the weekend, despite Sunday's storms.

How did the rain affect your plans so far?
