In Sliema, like in many other places in Malta, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a good place to eat, and more often than not, the decision all boils down to what you fancy, in terms of grub, environment and service. But, these four places take pride of place on my own foodie trail!
Breakfast
Giorgio’s attracts many who start off their day on the right foot by imbibing a warm cup of Joe, taking a sweet snack or a savoury breakfast! Located right in the heart of the Sliema ferries, Giorgio’s is one of those iconic places where you can just sit down and read the news, whilst enjoying a coffee and a pastizz or a croissant. You can also order an omelette, toastie, or go the whole way and get a full English. This corner shop, framed within glass walls which let the sunlight stream in, offers views of both the sea and the bustling town slowly starting its day.

Lunch
Beach-side bar-cum-restaurant Exiles is usually my go-to place for a Sliema lunch outside, in the sun. But, because it is open-air, this (sadly) only opens during the summertime. Alternatively, Mint in Windsor Street, is open 12 months a year and has been a popular staple in this town since it first opened a few years ago. The food is healthy, suitable for all types of dietary requirements while the line-up on offer is constantly changing. And, many just go for the vibe, which is as uplifting and relaxing as a Maltese summer's day.

Afternoon coffee
Hole in The Wall is Sliema’s oldest cafe and bar. It has been recently refurbished, re-emerging as one of Sliema’s hippest places. The vibe is cool and cozy, and it is ideal for a coffee (or beer) between lunch and dinner.

Dinner
One of the best things about Sliema is its location: right opposite the untouched skyline of the capital city, this is the perfect place from where to enjoy the view. And, The Chophouse does not only offer delicious food, but is an ideal vantage point from where to sit back and savour the sight of Valletta. Renowned for its meat dishes, and the island’s largest charcoal grill, Chophouse offers a variety of specialities, which can be paired with stunning wines - perfect ingredients to end your day.
