History enthusiast, John C. Navarro, uploaded the following photo of this Maltese to English dictionary that dates all the way to 1963.

What makes this dictionary so special from the other thousands of dictionaries published throughout the years is that this is the same one that many Maltese citizens used to learn English from when they immigrated overseas.

The dictionary become the best friend of many who left Malta and immigrated to Australia, England, Canada or the USA as it helped navigate their new foreign life.

The dictionary was written by Cap. Paul Bugeja, who also included how each word sounded phonetically to make it easier for the Maltese immigrants.

Many immigrants who emigrated in the 1960’s will surely remember this tiny but essential book.
