The term 'Infiorata', coming from the Italian language, translates to 'flowered or 'decorated with flowers'
Last weekend marked the feast of Corpus Domini in Rabat, Malta. One of the main attractions of the annual event was the ‘Infjorata’ – a carpet of flowers constructed outside the The Basilica of St Paul, depicting the same saint, who is associated with the shipwreck that brought Christianity to the Maltese Islands in AD 60.
This year is a special one for the St Paul Parish in Rabat, as it commemorates the 250th anniversary since the statue of St Paul found in the Basilica was built by Giovanni Caruana, back in 1774.
This is the ninth year that the Parish has celebrated Corpus Domini by creating this floral work of art, which was blessed during a ceremony on Saturday evening.
Crowds gathered over the weekend to admire the intricate artistic display, put together by the Infiorata Rabat Malta Group.
