Straight out of a postcard! Decades old photo shows Gozo’s picturesque Mgarr Harbour
Heaven on earth!

A photo shared by Joseph Carabott on the local Facebook group ‘Our Islands Photography and Art’ shows quite the picturesque scene of Gozo from decades ago.

The photo depicts the Mgarr Harbour, most likely sometime in the 1970s, and there's a good chance it would have been used as postcard for tourists and locals alike to send abroad to their family and friends.

From the old photo, one can observe a fisherman making Maltese fishing nets as the sunny skies and traditional Maltese balconies serve as his background. Even though much has changed since this photo was taken, the Mgarr Harbour still remains a relatively popular spot for fishing.

One could even spot the Neo-Gothic chapel dedicated to ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’ sitting on top of the hill overlooking the harbour which still stands there to this day.

Do you remember Gozo looking like this?
